These little guys didn't make the cut, literally, in becoming one of our delicious, 1-oz beef sticks, but they taste just as good. In fact, some folks like them better. Our beef sticks are smoked in long casings, 300 lbs at a time, then cut into the 8-inch sticks you find in the package. During this process, the cut ends become our Beef Bites. They provide the same high-quality protein and essential 'good' fats for which grass-fed beef is known.

We all need more things like this!

So far I’ve tried the plain and the Chimichurri (Cilantro). I order in the bulk packs and haven’t tried the Smokey Sweet yet. These meats are a pleasant surprise. They’re moist but not greasy. That can be challenging in packaged snack meats but Sogo got it right. There’s a nice mouth feel and it makes a difference in this kind of snack. Easy on digestion, no burps and no trouble of any kind later, also no aftertaste (how’d you do that?). I’m prone to eating my fill since I have bulk and the cost is much less in a snack that’s already less expensive than the brands that advertise. Whether I’m after protein or cookies (but don’t want the carb issues), it helps to have Sogo snacks at the ready.

These are essentially organic without the certification, which is expensive to carry, even after meeting all the certification demands. There is only one element in Sogo’s process that doesn’t qualify and as a person who eats mostly organic, I’m satisfied that I’m eating top notch, tasty, healthy, just-that-close-to-certified meat.

FYI, USDA Organic Certification has been slowly eroding in its standards, having none of its originators either still at work there or still alive. Nevertheless, the high cost to the owner to get and keep that certification corners them into charging more to the customer. A benefit to us in this case. Thank you, Dan and Liza.

BTW I’m freezing most of what I buy in larger ziplock bags, then keeping open packages in ziplocks in the fridge after opening. This keeps the meat for a super long time.

That jockeyed a couple of times and I was moved at the attention they give to their customers individually. They truly put personal touch in their order fulfillment and the whole family is involved. I’m a private person but I felt like family after our exchange. They represent what this country was built on but lost over generations of corporatizing. I love doing business with them.

Really good!

Beef sticks are very good, with grass-fed beef and clean ingredients. Spiciness is subtle and not overpowering and makes the taste interesting. Only drawback is that casings are a little tough. Otherwise a great snack for anytime.

Every Road Trip

We purchase several flavors of the beef bites anytime we travel. Original is a go-to with the right amount of spice, but not too much. They are the perfect amount for a car ride snack for our family, and our kids enjoy the smaller bite sized pieces! I feel like we waste less, save money, and still get the great flavor of SOGO snacks!
